Afcon Egypt 2019: Preview of group F clash, Benin vs Cameroon...by Jemea Teke Ndumbe


 Cameroon play Benin in their last group game on Tuesday July 2, 2019 @17:00. Cameroon need atleast a draw to qualify and secure their place at the summit of group F.

Benin will be looking for nothing short of a win against Cameroon if they are nursing ambition to go pass the group stage.
 Both teams have met 5 times with Cameroon winning all five meetings.

11/7/93 Benin 0-3 Cameroon.
25/1/2001 Benin 1-3 Cameroon
6/6/2004 Benin 1-2 Cameroon
4/6/2005 Benin 1-4 Cameroon.

This will be the first time both teams exchange ballistic missiles in an afcon tournament.


 Benin are winless in their last 8 afcon matches(L4 &D4). In contrast Cameroon are unbeaten in their last 8 afcon games (W4 &D4).

Andre Onana, Choupo- Moting, defense man Michael Ngadeu- Ngandjui, Clinton Njie and Ambroise Oyongo are key players to watch for Cameroon tomorrow.

Huddersfield forward Steve Mouni and experienced Mikael Pote who has already netted twice so far will be the players to watch for Benin.

Historical fact: Ghana or Cameroon could play the finals this year.

Kagawa Mondi, the charismatic play maker: who is he?

Mondi Kagawa is a professional footballer with the Cameroon professional football  league.  He currently ply his trade with Public works department ( PWD) , a division one outfit from the North west regional capital of Cameroon. The batibo native from Momo division, has been with PWD since 2014. A year after he completed secondary school studies at Government technical high school Bamenda, obtaining a baccalaureate in wood work. With PWD,  Kagawa is counted amongst the armada of players that helped the team in 2018 to get promoted to top-tier league.
