Afcon 2019: Summary of round one matches....by Jemea Teke Ndumbe


 The total Africa cup of nations kicked off on June 21,2019 as host Egypt put one pass the warriors of Zimbabwe.

So far round matches have come and gone with a total of 12matches played with 9wins and 3 draws. 27goals were scored in the process with the game Mali vs Mauritania recording the most goals as Mali won 4-1.

The group with the most goals is group E with 7goals. Top scorer so far is Benin's Mickael Pote with 2goals.

 However strong favourites like Algeria, Senegal, and Cameroon all won convincingly as they scored twice without reply from their openents.

Host Egypt, Cote d'ivoire,nigeria and Morocco all suivived by the skin of their teeth as the struggle to score just ones pass the openents.

The news comers like Madagasca, Burundi and Mauritania all participated in their first afcon games but Madagasca was the better side as the drew 2-2 with Guinea. Burundi on their part gave Nigeria a run for their money as only an Igalo goal could seperate both teams. Mauritania is still dreaming seeing her self in the afcon as she was heavily beaten by Mali 4-1.

Round 2 matches continues today in groups A and B.

Kagawa Mondi, the charismatic play maker: who is he?

Mondi Kagawa is a professional footballer with the Cameroon professional football  league.  He currently ply his trade with Public works department ( PWD) , a division one outfit from the North west regional capital of Cameroon. The batibo native from Momo division, has been with PWD since 2014. A year after he completed secondary school studies at Government technical high school Bamenda, obtaining a baccalaureate in wood work.
