AFCON 2019: Defending champions, Cameroon begin preparations... By Ingrid Kengne

 

The indomitable lions of Cameroon  started  their training camp in Madrid this Tuesday June 04, Spain ahead of the 2019 African cup of Nations in Egypt.

The lions will be in Madrid for a week, where they shall be holding double training sessions.


 Their first friendly match will be played against  Zambia on June 9, and the second on June 10 against Spanish local Side.

The defending champions shall take off for Qatar immediately after these matches, where they shall be involving in theor  second phase of the build up.  Their stay in Qater will last between June 11and 16.


They will take off for Yaounde on June 17, where they shall finalise their training. The will take their fly for  Egypt on June 20 where the tournament shall be taking place.

While in Egypt, their first encounter will be against  Guinea Bissau on the 25th , the second on the 29th with Ghana, and will round off their group games against Benin on July 2nd.

Kagawa Mondi, the charismatic play maker: who is he?

Mondi Kagawa is a professional footballer with the Cameroon professional football  league.  He currently ply his trade with Public works department ( PWD) , a division one outfit from the North west regional capital of Cameroon. The batibo native from Momo division, has been with PWD since 2014. A year after he completed secondary school studies at Government technical high school Bamenda, obtaining a baccalaureate in wood work. With PWD,  Kagawa is counted amongst the armada of players that helped the team in 2018 to get promoted to top-tier league.
