Late Martin Belinga Eboutou
Martin Belinga Eboutou was born on the 17th of February, 1940 in Nkilzok,in the Zoétéle district on the outskirts of Yaounde.
His father was a Catechist of the Catholic Church. He died and was burried in Nden village.
Belinga's mother, Veronique Eboutou sent him to Catholic school ,Nden since she wanted him to became a priest in future. After then, Martin Belinga Eboutou attended the Otélé ,Edea and and Akono minor seminaries.
It is in akono that he met with Paul Biya Bartholomew(the current President of Cameroon) who was studying there at that time.
From there, Eboutou latter on furthered his education in the Universities of Lavanium in Zair and Paris.
He obtained a Bachelors degree in Canon Law and a Doctorates in Law.He also graduated from the diplomatic section of ENA in Paris.
Late Martin Belinga Eboutou occupied significant portfolios under the regime of his Ex-School mate, President Paul Biya.
He has been Director of State Protocol, Chief of State Protocol at the unity palace, from 1989 to 1997,Director of the Civil Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic from 19th of September 1996 to 8th December 1997.
Added to this, the Nkilzok native was made Permanent Representative to the UN on 13th of March 1998, before becoming President of the UN Economic and Social Council on 29th January 2001.
The late state man was also President of the UN Security Council on October 2002, Chairperson of the Third Committee of the General Assembly on 6th October 2003 before occupying the post of the Director of Civil Cabinet at the Presidency on 30th June 2009, for the second time.
His exit from the government came up during the cabinet reshuffle of March 2nd, 2018.
It should be noted that late Martin Belinga Eboutou is one of those privileged, to have been highly used by Mr Biya in his regime.
He passed away on May, 08,2019 in Geneva Switzerland.
