Premier league: joel Matip and Liverpool fail to win league tittle....by Jemea Teke Ndumbe


Cameroon international defender  Joel Andrea Matip who is currently a liverpool player has been a rock at the defense line for the English team, for most of the season lost the league despite a win over wolves.

Matip and his team needed to win against wolves and hope for a mancity sleep but eventhough they emerged 2-0, man city proved a better team after scoring 4 against 1 for brighton.

This is liverpool's closest title chase in the premier league era. It is the first time in premier league history that a team finished with 97points without winning the championship.

Joel Matip has had  22 league appearances this session , 30times, starting 17times, 5times as a sub; 9times on the bench and 5times he has been injured during the just ended season.

His performances for liverpool this season have caught the attention of cameroonians who believe that the prolific defense man should return to the national team.

Joel Matip could have become the third cameroonian to win the premier league after lauren Etame-Mayer with Arsenal in the 2001-02 and 2003-04 seasons and Geremi Njitap with chelsea in 2004-05 &2005-06 seasons.

All is not yet lost for Matip and his club liverpool as he might counted amongst the fouth cameroonian in history to have won  the champions league after greats like Omam Biyik with Marseille in 1993, Geremi Njitap in 2000 and 2002 with real madrid and Samuel Eto'o with Barcelona in 2006 and 2009 ,then with Inter Milan in 2010.

Matip and liverpool will play english rivals  tottenham, on june 1, 2019 at the wanda metropolitano in Madrid, spain.

Kagawa Mondi, the charismatic play maker: who is he?

Mondi Kagawa is a professional footballer with the Cameroon professional football  league.  He currently ply his trade with Public works department ( PWD) , a division one outfit from the North west regional capital of Cameroon. The batibo native from Momo division, has been with PWD since 2014. A year after he completed secondary school studies at Government technical high school Bamenda, obtaining a baccalaureate in wood work.
