 35 years old soccer legend Robin Van Persie,who began playing  football at the age of  17, has resigned from professional  football .

The former Arsenal and Manchester united striker played his last professional match for boyhood club Feyenood on sunday May 13th.

 The dutch man has played for Feyenood, Arsenal, Manchester united and Fenerbahce.

 He scored 15 goals in 61 appearances for  boyhood club. He has  won the UEFA  cup, the dutch cup and was nominated the best young talent of KNVB award in 2002.

On May 17, 2004, Van persie signed in Arsenal, for  a sum of 2.75million Euros. His time with the north londoners earned him 2 community shield and one FA cup in 2005
 The talented goal poacher  scored 96 goals for the gunners in 194 appearances.

 He signed for the red devils on August 12, 2012. For two seasons with Man United , Van Persie scored 48 goals in 86 selections and won the premier league in 2013.

His 144 premier league appearances earned him the title of the highest goal scorer in the competition .

 Falling short of expectations for Man united, Van persie signed for Turkish giant Fenerbahce where he spent three seasons, netting  over 22 goals in 57 caps.

 In the 2018-19 season, he returned to  boyhood club Feyenood where he played his last game as a professional  footballer on May 13,2019.

 He has played a total of 102 games for the dutch national outfit, scoring 50 goals.This makes him the country's all time top scorer.

 


He has represented his country in three FIFA world cups in the likes of  2006,2010 and 2014.

 The  stricker is remembered for his spectacular world cup goal against spain, where  his home team,  Nertherlands thrashed their opponents  5-1.
