Car washing, a new bread winning profession in Yaounde... By Fabove Gael

     Car wash have became a profession to many youths in the Nations capital, Yaounde. It now very common to find car wash points on the streets of Yaounde.

A good example is Coron neighborhood where young men stand and scramble over cars in order to wash them. They do it beside the road,mindless of the repercussions they can face.


  Mr Mvondo Charles is a young man who is in the car wash job because he does not want to stay at home doing nothing. He says the price for  cars to be wash varies from 600frs to 5000frs depending on the type of car and the personnel too.


 Though most of them are able to provide the needs of their families from what they end per day, the job is not without some difficulties as Mvondo Charles recounts"firstly, we are washing the cars beside the road which eventually brings problems between us and the passers by, the municipal police, known as AWARA is against us washing cars beside the road, the water we use is very dirty and offen gives us illnesses and we also fight among ourselves as a result of scrambling over a single car".He adds...."Here is a jungle my brother it is the survival of the fittest".


   Despite the difficulties they phase, they are not willing to leave because it is where they earn their breads. Charles adds..."They're days I can leave here with about 4000frs depending on the season because raining season we receive more cars than in try season.


   It should be noted that this car wash points beside the the road offen create traffic in Corona neighborhood.
